| The great (and cleaner) outdoors
The crew launched from Swatara Watershed Park at 1929 Blacks Bridge Road on the 30-mile, two-day event set to end Sunday afternoon in Middletown. Although this year's trip might mean more work than it has in the past, Litz said she was excited to share her love of the creek and the Sojourn. "It's just a nice little adventure every year," Carter said. All of your senses are engaged - sight, smell, touch, sound. First, there is an educational component. Calling the Swatara "the ultimate outdoor water park," Litz said memories from the event last a lifetime. You can get out on the water and float in the sunshine, see fish, deer, squirrels, birds, the wildflowers in bloom. Most of the people are repeats, and you see the same people every year. "It doesn't seem like work because we have so much fun," she said. The Swatara is a source of water that we drink. It's a lot of fun, and you get to see wildlife while you are doing something good for the environment. |
