| Cleaning of city drains starts from Sunday KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Muhammad Hussain Syed has directed to begin the cleaning of all small and big drains located in district south and east from Sunday so that the citizens could be saved from any mishap during the next monsoon season in the city. It was decided in the meeting to form two teams for each of these districts which would review the cleaning work of storm water drains within their remit and focus on the chocking points in drains. The meeting was chaired by Senior Director Health Services Dr Shoukat Zaman and attended by municipal commissioners and relevant officers of DMC East and South while health services and technical officials were also present on this occasion. Meanwhile, the cleaning of Akbar Road Drain, Lilli Bridge, University Road Drain, Mnzoor Colony Drain and Nehr-e-Khayam from Boat Basin was also started and the cleaning work of drains located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Jamshed Zone, including the areas of Manzoor Colony and Mehmoodabad. will also begin from Wednesday. |
