I've decided that Saturdays are for cleaning. I think we're ready for this. I know I am. It'll relieve the bit of pressure I put on myself for keeping a clean house 'all the time'. They do it at school and daycare. As of late, I've been doing a major cleaning on Fridays when I'm with the kids because it's the first day of the week when I'm home for more than three hours and it's not a school/work day - and I can only stare at the pile of crumbs under the table for so long before I start convulsing and I have to clean them up. Many people I know clean on Saturdays. We're gonna try it. And two people cleaning is better than one. Also, my hubby is at work so I do not get any help from him. The problem with this is that when I'm cleaning, I'm not playing with the kids. I remember waking up and being mentally prepared for the cleaning that would often take the whole morning to do. It taught me a lot about cleaning, scheduling and responsibility. We'll get the kids to help you out as much as they can as well. I do not get an allowance nowadays, but it sure feels good to see a carpet free of crumbs and dolls, a kitchen floor free of unidentified black marks, and a countertop free of dishes - even if this cleanliness is short-lived. So I was talking to my hubby this week about how I needed more help cleaning the home and that maybe we could clean together - like, as a family, on Saturdays. I mean, I know they can do it. It seemed to work for me and my family while I was growing up. I adhered to this way of cleaning for most of my life. Then I had kids and everything changed. |
