In some areas of NSW, people are cleaning up after the worst floods since 1974. SES spokesman Phil Campbell told AAP there was concern about the levee. At Wagga Wagga and Forbes - two of the worst affected communities in the state - people were allowed home on Sunday. For many, it confirmed their worst fears. 'We've got a huge job,' North Wagga Wagga resident Diane Tyler told AAP. Forbes in NSW's central west was given the all-clear on Sunday and locals were allowed home following a week of evacuations and disruption. Downstream at Narrandera, a flood warning was issued, putting householders on notice of a possible evacuation. Other communities in the state's southwest were braced for flooding. She and others in this area were accompanied by SES volunteers and had to leave the area before nightfall. 'The house is totally flooded and the carpet's ruined. Some properties in Forbes remained flooded and would be inspected on Monday morning. |
