Window cleaner thwarts robbery

WILKES-BARRE - A can of window-cleaning spray wielded by a quick-thinking employee prevented a robbery at a kielbasi store on Saturday.

According to Wilkes-Barre police, a teenage male came into Leonard's Kielbasi Market at 64 Kado St. about 1 p.m. and asked about a job. When employee Ruth Nestorick approached him, the teen pulled out a black gun, pointed it at her and demanded money, which Ms. Nestorick said she didn't have. As the teen banged on an antique cash register in an unsuccessful attempt to open it, Ms. Nestorick reached behind the counter, grabbed a can of foaming window cleaner and sprayed the teen in the face.e fled west on Kado Street.
